In computer science and informatics, Nesting is where information is organised in layers or where objects contain other similar objects. The literal meaning of Nest is a structure, or shelter, used during incubation until the young is fully fledged.
Stemming from this double metaphor, we conceived our planning approach: an interactive congregated platform, where young entrepreneurs can share their ideas and exchange conversations with experienced players in the same industry, on multiple ‘levels’ (both physically and conceptually).
The planning of the Nest was driven by the thrilling opportunity of creating an attractive, dynamic yet sustainable hub for diverse knowledge sectors, responding to One North’s Masterplan with a layering of hanging gardens. These camouflaged sky bridges and terraces also represent an informal space of aggregation and exchange, forming social nodes across the two towers.
