In computer science and informatics, nesting is where information is organized in layers or where objects contain other similar objects. The literal meaning of "nest" is a structure or shelter used during incubation until the young are fully fledged.
Stemming from this double metaphor, we conceived our planning approach: an interactive, congregated platform where young entrepreneurs can share their ideas and exchange conversations with experienced players in the same industry, on multiple ‘levels’ (both physically and conceptually).
The planning of the Nest was driven by the thrilling opportunity of creating an attractive, dynamic, yet sustainable hub for diverse knowledge sectors, responding to One North's Masterplan with a layering of hanging gardens. These camouflaged sky bridges and terraces also represent an informal space of aggregation and exchange, forming social nodes across the two towers.
